Local businesses already making the connections
The redevelopment of the Shell Centre is a major driving force behind the launch of the South London Procurement Network.
The site’s joint venture developers, Canary Wharf Group and Qatari Diar, have already committed to contracts worth over £1m with firms in the local area.
The Network will work with small to medium enterprises (SMEs) in the Borough of Lambeth and also more widely across south London to help them access and bid for contracts from major businesses and projects based in the area.
Here are some examples of local companies who are already making the connection with major firms in the local area, and with the Shell Centre developers and the South London Procurement Network. All will be founder members of the Network.

Often after meet the buyer events it remains difficult to keep communication going with the person that you met. Again this is where SLPN can help in giving the contractor a nudge now and again if you are not gaining a response. Nevertheless, the process is often slow as the end user may not have a need for your services at that time. The trick is to impress them at the first meeting and then try to stay in touch, be in their psyche when they are finally looking for the service that you offer. Beware though that this can be a long process running into months and years.

GSL Cleaning Services was an independent, family run cleaning company located on the south side of the river in London, providing efficient and reliable cleaning/support services to commercial, construction, domestic sectors, as well as providing security services to the people and businesses of London and surrounding areas.
They joined SLPN in January 2013 as a registered supplier with three members of staff and a turnover of £5,000. It started as an LLP and soon progressed to LTD in 2014. Since that time, SLPN has helped GSL win cleaning contracts worth over £290,000 with Lambeth Council, Network Rail and a number of property companies in the Nine Elms area. As a result, GSL now has an annual turnover of around £260,000, has created 20 new jobs, and expanded its range of services.

Mediworld, founded in 1973, began life as a family-run high street shop in Streatham. 43 years later, they are still a family-run business based in Streatham, but is now a leading international company in the supply of medical and scientific equipment with a global reach across 5 continents and over 40 countries.
They joined SLPN in May 2015 as a registered supplier and not so long after, Naveed Khan, a Director at Mediworld, utilised one of our free services by attending a workshop and meeting Richard Hoque, one of our experienced trainers in Digital Marketing.
“We found the seminar SLPN presented by Richard back in September 2015 organised, very informative and were so impressed that we approached him to work with us.
