BIS funding available to help small businesses tackle cyber attacks 29 April 2013

The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) has announced funding is available for SMEs to help increase their Cyber Security through a new Innovation Voucher.

The new Innovation Voucher, which joins a range of Innovation Vouchers from the Technology Strategy Board, will allow Small to Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) to bid for up to £5,000 from a £500,000 pot, to help improve their cyber security by bringing in outside expertise.

The 2013 Information Security Breaches Survey found 87% of small businesses suffered from security breaches in the past year, costing them up to 6% of their annual turnover, which could have been used for preventative measures instead.
